Lay It Down is a studio album by the Canadian band Cowboy Junkies, originally released in 1996. The Toronto group consists of singer Margo Timmins, her brothers Michael (guitar) and Peter (drums) and bassist Alan Anton. The album was their first for the Geffen label and continued the characteristic, subdued blend of folk, country and alternative rock with which the band broke through in the late 1980s with The Trinity Session. Songs such as 'A Common Disaster' and 'Angel Mine' were released as singles. The mood is hushed and melancholic, carried by Margo Timmins' whisper-soft vocals.
