For Country Music, Willie Nelson and producer T Bone Burnett assembled a session band around banjo player Riley Baugus and double bassist Dennis Crouch, the same musicians who had just played on Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Originally released in 2010 as the first album of his Rounder Records deal, it gathers fifteen country and folk standards, from Hank Williams's House of Gold to Merle Travis's Dark as a Dungeon. The setting is acoustic and unadorned: mandolin, dobro, upright bass, and Nelson's voice, with no studio gloss. Country Music entered at number 4 on the US country albums chart and number 20 on the Billboard 200, and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Americana Album. This edition is a 2-LP.
