R.E.M.

R.E.M. formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1980 around singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and drummer Bill Berry. On I.R.S. Records the band built its reputation through college radio, with jangling guitars, half-buried vocals, and albums such as Murmur (1983), Reckoning (1984), and Document (1987). After moving to Warner Bros. in 1988 the group grew into a worldwide act: Out of Time (1991) and Automatic for the People (1992) produced Losing My Religion, Shiny Happy People, Everybody Hurts, and Man on the Moon. On Monster (1994) they turned instead to loud, distorted guitars. Bill Berry left in 1997, after which Stipe, Buck, and Mills carried on as a trio until they disbanded in September 2011. R.E.M. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

This collection brings together R.E.M. on vinyl, LP and CD: reissues of the studio albums, compilations, and individual releases from the I.R.S. and Warner years.
