Dead Letter Office collects B-sides and previously unreleased recordings R.E.M. made between 1982 and 1987, originally released in 1987 on I.R.S. Records. Alongside band originals such as Ages Of You and Burning Down are covers that show what the group was listening to: three Velvet Underground songs, Aerosmith's Toys In The Attic, Roger Miller's King Of The Road, and Crazy by fellow Athens band Pylon. Guitarist Peter Buck wrote a short, self-deprecating note on every track for the sleeve. The album reached number 52 in the United States and number 60 in the United Kingdom. This edition is an LP.
