Hits Are for Squares is a compilation album by American noise rock band Sonic Youth, originally released in 2008. Its composition is unusual: the songs were chosen by befriended artists and celebrities, including Beck, Eddie Vedder, Flea and Chloë Sevigny, each of whom briefly explained their choice. The selection spans the band's career from the eighties to the 2000s, with songs such as 'Teen Age Riot', 'Kool Thing', 'Bull in the Heather' and '100%'. The band recorded the new track 'Slow Revolution' especially for the compilation. The album was originally released exclusively through the coffee chain Starbucks.
