This recording is the earliest known sound of Aerosmith: seven songs captured in 1971 on Joe Perry's Wollensak tape machine by roadie Mark Lehman, in the band's Boston rehearsal room. Aerosmith had only been together a short while and played here for a handful of friends, running through Somebody, Movin' Out, Mama Kin, and Walkin' the Dog, which all landed on the debut album soon afterwards. There is also an early, unfinished version of Dream On, next to the blues number Reefer Head Woman and Major Barbara. The tape sat unused in the archive for decades and originally appeared in November 2021 as a Record Store Day release, in an edition of 10,000 copies.
