The Big Band Theory is an album by Barry Hay, singer of The Hague rock band Golden Earring, together with the Metropole Big Band, originally released in 2008. Hay sings big band arrangements of pop and rock classics, including 'Let's Spend the Night Together' and 'Waiting on a Friend' by The Rolling Stones, 'Summer in the City' by The Lovin' Spoonful and 'Spinning Wheel' by Blood, Sweat & Tears. 'The Power of Love' and 'Walls Come Tumbling Down' by The Style Council also received big band treatments. The album became Hay's most commercially successful solo project, reaching number two on the Dutch album chart. The Metropole Big Band grew out of the Metropole Orkest, one of the world's leading pop and jazz orchestras.
