Legend was originally released in May 1984, three years after Marley's death, as Island's first career overview. The selection is limited to the Island years 1973 to 1980: Is This Love, No Woman, No Cry (in the live version from the Lyceum), Could You Be Loved, Three Little Birds, Buffalo Soldier, Get Up, Stand Up, Stir It Up, Redemption Song, Exodus, and Jamming. The album spent twelve weeks at number 1 in the United Kingdom, was certified diamond by the RIAA in the United States, and is the best-selling reggae album of all time.
