Divine Light is an album on which producer and bassist Bill Laswell reworked music by Carlos Santana, released in 2001 under the full title Divine Light: Reconstruction & Mix Translation by Bill Laswell. The material comes from two albums from Santana's spiritual period as a follower of guru Sri Chinmoy: Love Devotion Surrender (1973), his collaboration with guitarist John McLaughlin, and Illuminations (1974), made with harpist and pianist Alice Coltrane. Laswell applied the same approach as on Panthalassa (1998), his reconstruction of Miles Davis's electric work: he mixed and edited the original recordings into a continuous, ambient-like whole. The music moves between jazz fusion, spiritual jazz and meditative soundscapes. Contributors to the original recordings included Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland and Larry Young.
