She wrote and produced most of it with Jack Antonoff, with contributions from Drew Erickson and Zach Dawes. The sixteen songs lean on piano, understated arrangements and long, associative lyrics about family, faith and mortality, with spoken interludes from pastor Judah Smith and pianist Jon Batiste. Guests including Father John Misty, Bleachers and Tommy Genesis colour several tracks. Variety called the album 'an emotional tour de force'.
This edition is a 2-LP on green vinyl, as an indie-only limited edition.
