Painkiller was the twelfth studio album by the British heavy metal band Judas Priest, released in 1990. It was the first record with drummer Scott Travis, whose fast, powerful playing set the tone for the whole album. With the title track 'Painkiller', 'A Touch of Evil' and 'Night Crawler', the band pursued a faster and more aggressive sound than on earlier records. Rob Halford's high vocals and the twin guitar work of Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing stood at the centre. Painkiller came to be regarded as one of the most influential albums for later speed and power metal.
