When film work ground to a halt in the spring of 2020, Paul McCartney was left alone in his Sussex studio. What he recorded there — once again playing everything himself — became McCartney III, the third part of a run that began in 1970. "Find My Way" and "Seize the Day" are the most song-like moments; on "Long Tailed Winter Bird" and the eight-minute "Deep Deep Feeling" he stretches a single idea out instead. The album originally appeared in December 2020 and became his first UK solo number one since Flowers in the Dirt in 1989.
