Egypt Station is laid out as a train journey: the album opens and closes with a "station" and the songs in between are the stops. Paul McCartney made it with producer Greg Kurstin, apart from one track produced by Ryan Tedder. "Come On to Me", "I Don't Know" and "Fuh You" went ahead as singles; on the nearly seven-minute "Despite Repeated Warnings" he sings about a captain knowingly steering his ship towards disaster. The album originally came out in September 2018 and became his first US number one since Tug of War in 1982 — and the first of his to enter straight at the top there.
