On Remain in Light, Talking Heads build the songs from interlocking, polyrhythmic layers inspired by the Afrobeat of Fela Kuti: a single continuous groove with vocals, guitars and percussion running across it like separate threads. The band worked with producer Brian Eno for the last time and recorded at Compass Point in the Bahamas, with guitarist Adrian Belew as a guest. 'Once in a Lifetime', with David Byrne's declaiming half-spoken vocals, grew into its best-known song. The album originally appeared in 1980 and expanded the band's sound into a larger, funk-driven collective. Rolling Stone included it in its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. This edition is an LP on black vinyl.
