Rolling Stone called True Romance "the pop-album equivalent of a wicked Tumblr", and that is how Charli XCX's debut album sounds: dark synth-pop and goth-pop full of production quirks, with a title that nods to the 1993 film of the same name. Much of the material had already appeared on earlier mixtapes and EPs, including Heartbreaks and Earthquakes and Super Ultra. Ariel Rechtshaid and Patrik Berger produced a large share of it; with Rechtshaid she wrote Stay Away in a two-hour session. Nuclear Seasons, You're the One, You (Ha Ha Ha) and What I Like were released as singles. A beat by Berger also led to I Love It, which Icona Pop later re-recorded with her vocals.
This edition is an LP on black vinyl.
