Now Playing is a compilation from Rhino's series of the same name, drawn from John Coltrane's recordings for Atlantic. It runs from 'Giant Steps', 'Cousin Mary', and 'Naima' through 'Village Blues' and 'Central Park West' to the first half of 'My Favorite Things'. The selection covers 1959 to 1961, the years in which Coltrane worked out his own chord cycles and took up the soprano saxophone.
