On 22 and 23 December 1965 the second great quintet of Miles Davis played the Plugged Nickel in Chicago, and Columbia kept the tapes rolling. Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams had agreed among themselves to play against their own habits, and you can hear it: standards such as "All of You" and "My Funny Valentine" are turned inside out, tempos tilt halfway through and Williams keeps driving the group on. This second set from 23 December was released on 28 November 2025 for Record Store Day Black Friday, ahead of the complete box edition of the Plugged Nickel recordings. This edition is a 2-LP on black vinyl.
